You need for baked chicken moussaka:

For Moussaka:

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 dried onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato puree
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 boiled chicken breast

For the sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons of oil
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 glass of water milk
  • 1 cup of yogurt
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of salt

How to make chicken moussaka:

  • Chop the onions and potatoes into small cubes. Slice the garlic thinly.
  • Put oil in an ovenproof pan or tray and take it to the stove. Add onion, garlic and salt to the pan and saute. Then add the potatoes and continue roasting.
  • When the onions begin to color, add spices and tomato puree and continue cooking for two minutes. Chop the chicken and add it at this stage.
  • Finally, add enough chicken broth to the level of the potatoes. If chicken broth is not enough at this stage, you can add water. If you have roasted the mixture in the pot, you can put it on the baking tray at this stage.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  • While your food is in the oven, fry the oil and flour in a pan or a small saucepan and leave to cool. Add milk to the cooled flour and mix until smooth. Finally, add yogurt, eggs and salt and make the sauce ready.
  • Continue cooking for another 20 minutes until the sauce is poured over the food in the oven and browned. You can slice the food from the oven and serve it hot.
